Why Airboats?

Airboats are probably the most practical ATV (all terrain vehicle) yet devised.

Hovercraft may seem more high tech, but they can't compete with airboats in terms of price / performance. On the open water, the performance of an airboat (running at 40 - 100 mph) might be matched by some power boats. However, in marshes and wetlands, the airboat wins hands down.

Compared to power boats and wheeled vehicles, airboats are environmentally friendly. With no props in the water to damage fish, manatees, and underwater vegetation and no wheels or tracks to dig into the wetlands, airboats leave no scar on the landscape.

An hour after the airboat has left an area, there is very little trace that it had ever been there. There are no ruts or other scars on the land and no oily residues in the water.

Most Airboats are powered by clean burning four-cycle engines (rather than the smoky plug fouling two stroke outboards). With above-the-water exhaust, no pollutants such as oil, exhaust fumes, or unburned fuel are deposited in the water. Engine detail

American airboats are designed to skim across wet marshes and still provide a stable ride on a deep river. The 350 - 620 h.p. automotive or aircraft engines push the craft to speeds in excess of 45 mph.

Airboat hulls are constructed of bulletproof 3/16 inch marine grade aluminum shielded with another 1/4 to 1/2 inch or more of a Teflon type of polymer. The sides are crafted from 1/8 inch aluminum and braced with carbon steel struts. The hulls are so over-engineered that we now back them with a life time warranty.
