Options:  Engines 

The base price Air Ranger comes with a modern small block 350 cu. in . Chevy V-8 engine with a custom designed aluminum racing radiator, HEI ignition, stainless steel headers, and exhaust system.  The modifications are primarily oriented toward adapting the engine to a marine environment and extracting the maximum power.  The marine adaption isn't much:  a different air filter and a few corrosion resitant parts.  Other boats require more changes because they are circulating sea water.

The most popular engines are the Chevy V-8's ranging in power from 300 h.p. to 500 h.p. depending on displacement and performance options.

Rebuilt aircraft engines are also an option.  If it were not for their high price tag and expensive replacement parts, aircraft engines would have certain advantages such as light weight and the ability to deliver high torque at low RPM without a reduction drive.

Relative prices of engines:  actual prices depend on the performance options.  Prices are set by the manufacturer and can vary.  To compare prices, ask for the dyno rated horsepower output.  With performance parts, it is possible to get almost 1 h.p. per cu. in.

Hull Options:

Marine aluminum is so superior to the other possible hull materials that it is the only material used by American Airboats.  Our hull options are limited to design modifications that would optimize performance in certain environments.  For example, boats designed for the arctic, for deep water work, or for racing would not have hull designs identical to the standard all-purpose Air Ranger. Examples:

• extra bracing
• higher sides
• extra width
• rake - to specifications
• deep water hull 

Upgrades:

Warranty

Our boats are built up to a quality standard not down to a price.  Our life time- if you can break it we will fix it - hull warranty proves it.  You will never experience corrosion or a busted seam with an American built airboat no matter how you might abuse the craft. If you are the first to accomplish this then it will probably be covered under the warranty. 

We don't recommend full throttle encounters with a cement pier.  You might survive such an impact but the hull will. 

We don't recommend trying to shoot holes in the bottom of the boat.  You might succeed in shooting yourself in the foot but you will not succeed in putting a hole through the hull -  its bulletproof.

Try before you buy

Because of our convenient lake front location, buyers get to water test their boats before taking delivery.  American also provides operator training.
